As KCC approved roofing and associated works contractors we have carried out many roofing works to schools and other council property.
Petham Primary school needed extensive work carried out to the main buildings roofs, including many of the old rafters and perlins being removed and new ones installed.
Once the old tiles had been removed from the roofs and old battens stripped off and removed then we had to strip out the old timber framing. Once this was completed we had all new timbers delivered and constructed a whole new roof to the correct specifications, and after fixing on the roofing felt and battens it was now ready for tiling.
Several thousand new Marley Ashdowne clay tiles (Aylesham mix) were delivered along with new eaves tiles, ridges, bonnets, and hips and these were eventually loaded onto and laid onto the new battens.
There was some leadwork that was also replaced such as old lead flashings, and lead valleys.
As well as the pitched roofs there were a couple of single storey flat roofs that needed re-felting with high performance flat felt, and the usual re-pointing of brickwork in certain areas around the buildings.
